Moreno Recognized in DepEd's Green Beat Initiative

Ms. Melanie Mae N. Moreno is recognized as one of the Top 10 School Paper Advisers during DepEd's Green Beat Initiative Completion Ceremony held on November 21, 2020 via Facebook.

 

For 6 weeks, 100 campus journalists and school paper advisers participated in the Green Beat Initiative: An Online Environmental Journalism Training, where young writers and their advisers were equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and expertise in writing and reporting stories on climate change and environmental issues.

GEANHS Joins 4th Quarter NSED 2020

GEANHS joins the nation in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on November 27, 2020. The activity highlighted the capability of school teaching and non-teaching personnel in responding to emergency situations.

Drills and exercises are part of the government’s continuing efforts in enhancing preparedness and awareness through participative DRRM advocacy.
 

Emilians Dominate Imus City Public Library Competitions

In celebration of reading month, Imus City Public Library conducted a series of virtual competitions for students and teachers.

 

On November 9, three Emilians bagged the top three awards during the Virtual Book Character Costume Competition: Eugene I. Jumamoy as Tarzan (1st Place); Christine C. Amarillas as Cinderella (2nd Place); and, Stephanie A. Jayme as Urduja ( 3rd Place).

 

Emilians also conquered the Storytelling Contest held on November 20, 2020 via Facebook. Angela Ashlyn Arce got 1st Place in the Student Category, with her dynamic delivery of “Si Haring Kuliglig at Si Haring Leon”.

 

Likewise, Ms. Ma. Liezel Logroño, English teacher, bagged 2nd Place in the Professional Category for her storytelling of “Alamat ng Ampalaya”.

SSG Runs Donation Drive for Ulysses Victims

GEANHS' Supreme Student Government, under the supervision of Ms. Joan B. Eustaquio and Ms. Anamarie G. Ricafort of Araling Panlipunan Department, conducted "Lend a Hand Donation Drive for the Victims of Typhoon Ulysses" on November 17-19, 2020.

 

Donations of face masks, face shields, towels, mattresses, blankets, cleaning materials, hygiene kits, bottled water, and ready-to-eat food were collected and donated to victims of typhoon Ulysses.

Emilian Journalists Awarded at NCPC 2020

GEANHS took home 6 awards from the first-ever National Campus Press Congress 2020 on November 16, 2020 with the theme "Quenching Youth's Thirst to Expression Amidst Pandemic through Campus Journalism".

 

In the Individual Category, Brent Kyle Y. Ledesma bagged 4th Place in Photojournalism and Johann A. Saylon got 7th Place in Column Writing.

 

GEANHS' entry, General Tribune, won the Championship in Collaboration Desktop Publishing, Best News Page, best Features Page, and Best Sports Page.

General Tribune was composed of: Irish Rubenecia, Rio Angela Bellosillo, Sheinna Magdaraog, Sophia Lorraine Godevilla, Jeffery Jonson, Mark Harvey Dacara, and Renen Collao, SPJ students who trained under Ms. Melanie Mae N. Moreno, School Paper Adviser.

Del Rosario Tops Dost Tsunami Awareness Slogan Contest

In celebration of World Tsunami Awareness Day, DOST-PHIVOLCS conducted online slogan and digital poster-making contests with the theme “Tsunami Awareness, Community Preparedness, and Proper Response in the New Normal”.

 

Trixie Mae D. Del Rosario of SPJ-9 Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded Champion in the Slogan -Making

 

Contest during the virtual awarding ceremony held on November 5, 2020 via Zoom ang Facebook.

 

Del Rosario created her winning piece, "Tsunami'y Huwag Maliiitn, Wastong Impormasyon Alamin, Babala ay Sundin, Paghahanda Ugaliin," with the help of her coach, Mr. Jerico Hiel B. Astillero, Filipino teacher and School Paper Adviser.

Cavite Gov't To Provide Internet In Schools

The inevitability of Online Distance Learning resulted to growing need of internet connectivity in schools and communities. In response, the Provincial Government of Cavite, through the leadership of Governor Jonvic Remulla launched a program that would enable ODL.

 

Representatives from the provincial government conducted a site inspection and survey on November 3, 2020, with the assistance of Mr. Michael B. Zuñiga, ICT Coordinator. Smart WiFi Project proposes 100Mbps of internet service for the school that can be used by teachers and students.
