GEANHS BSP BAGS AWARDS IN CAVITE JAMBOREE

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Cavite Councilwide Jamboree 2019 was conquered by GEANHS scouts as they bagged three major awards: Best Camp; 1st Place in Search and Rescue on Action and Mobilization; and 1st Place Song and Yell. Held on November 14-17, 2019 at Brgy. Kaong, Silang, Cavite, GEANHS sent 12 scouts to be part of the four-day activity, namely: Marcus Marshall Sultan; Sean Martin Meneses; John Rannie Guno; Cathyn Canar; Ivan Mae Tiempo; Jermalyn Misoles; Mikael Edna Gomez; Khan Lady Agana; Cathlyn Capay; Raven Orlino; Remy Anthony Almonia; Pyth Clarens Dangcakan. The team was led by GEANHS teachers and Scout Leaders: Mr. Sammy Rey Y. Eusebio; Mr. Melvin S. Lisay; Mr. Norence Paul S. Regis; Mr. Michael Angelo S. Maleriado; and Ms. Lailani N. Torres.

As part of DepEd’s call for strengthening health programs among public schools, the Schools Division Office of Imus City conducted the WASH in Schools (WINS) monitoring on Novermber 19, 2019 at GEANHS Conference Room. The monitoring was led by SDOIC’s medical team composed of Dr. Juana S. Beronilla, Ms. Evangelina O. Gapuz, and Mr. Christian Gabrielle Y. Ynieto. WINS is a world-wide movement promoting hygiene and sanitation among communities. Adapted in the school setting, WINS also focuses on water safety, deworming, health education, and capability-building.

GEANHS RECEIVES NEW DEPED COMPUTERS

GEANHS, through its ICT arm, received a new DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) package on November 13, 2019. The package was composed on 50 tablet computers and 2 charging carts which can be used by an entire class. DepEd representatives unpacked and tested each computer and conducted an orientation among ICT teachers regarding the use of the new equipment. Through the acquisition and use of technology in classrooms, students are equipped with 21st century skills necessary for further education, entrepreneurship, and employment. The Digital Rise program is a part of the Schools of the Future program of DepEd.

ESKWELA KOOPERATIBA BENCHMARKING IN GEANHS

Delegates for the 3rd Day National Conference for the Development of Laboratory Cooperatives held on November 14-16, 2019 at Tagaytay International Convention Center visited GEANHS to conduct a benchmarking on the school’s own Eskwela Kooperatiba. Mr. Nerstor Resma, adviser of the Eskwela Kooperatiba, oriented the participants on the best practices, challenges and successes of the implementation of a student cooperative, also a program of the City Government of Imus to teach young people the value of saving money.

GEANHS RESEARCHERS AWARDED AT SDOIC’S 5th CReATE

In response to DepEd’s call for evidence-based programs and projects, GEANHS continues to conduct action researches that directly address the need for improvement. For years, GEANHS has been an abode of award-winning researchers from the division to the international level. Once again, GEANHS dominated presentation and paper awards during 5th Conference of Researchers for Action and Transformative Endeavor (CReATE) held on November 5, 2019 at Water Camp, Kawit, Cavite. Ms. Marycon Carmela G. Mella, Ms. Mary Ann N. Villareal and Ms. Joanne V. Cura bagged the First Place in Best Presentation in Session Hall A; Ms. Rona R. Alberto, Mr. Joseph R. Carreon, Ms. Ma. Alodia B. Marges and Ms. Donna F. Cabuco also got First Place for Session Hall B. Mr. Frederico I. Lachica and Ms. Jenie Jane A. Madrid placed Second in Best Presentation in Session Hall B. Furthermore, Ms. Rochelle S. Balate and Ms. Rubie G. Tagle, as well as, Mr. Joseph R. Carreon got Third Place in Session Halls A and B, respectively. For the Best Poster, GEANHS’ own SDRRM Team leads, Mr. Marlon Q. Martinez and Mr. Melvin S Lisay received Second Place. GEANHS researchers continued to triumph as they were awarded as Best Papers: Ms. Marycon Carmela G. Mella, Ms. Mary Ann N. Villareal and Ms. Joanne V. Cura in First Place; Ms. Rona R. Alberto, Mr. Joseph R. Carreon, Ms. Ma. Alodia B. Marges and Ms. Donna F. Cabuco in Second Place.

#BIDAANGHANDA IN GEANHS

In support of the national government’s goal to intensify Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, GEANHS participated in the 4th Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on November 14, 2019. The SDRRM team, Junior Medics and scouts led the drill participated by students, teachers, non-teaching staff and administrators. Mr. Marlon Q. Martinez, SDRRM Focal Person, reminded that disasters may strike anywhere, anytime, and requires thorough preparation and total participation from each member of the community. In order to strengthen SDRRM in GEANHS, Mr. Martinez and other teachers continue to develop programs that would strengthen not only preparedness, but as well as resiliency of every member of the school community.
