Online teachers geared up for online delivery learning (ODL) as GEANHS conducted an online class dry run. Thirty-two teachers from all 8 learning areas handled online classes for a week, with the support of volunteer students from Grade 7-10.

Teachers utilized Google Classroom as a teaching and learning platform for both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Digital tools for education, including Google Forms, Kahoot, Quizziz, and other OER applications, were effectively utilized by teachers.

Head Teachers and Master Teachers provided technical assistance through pre- and post-conferences in virtual and face-to-face approaches, noting social distancing measures.

Since June, the school has developed various initiatives to upskill teachers in ODL, such as the Power I.T. Up Webinar, LAC sessions, and orientations on managing online classes.

GEANHS continues to prepare for the upcoming school year to ensure that Emilians will continue to receive quality education amid pandemic.

GEANHS COMPLETION CEREMONY GOES VIRTUAL

With the onset of social distancing protocols, quarantine, and lockdown measures, group events have been discouraged to prevent further spread of COVID-19. This opens for new innovative avenues for gatherings, giving rise to virtual activities.

GEANHS joins the trend of “new normal” approaches to school events, as it held its first Virtual Completion Ceremony for Batch 2020 on July 10, 2020 via its YouTube channel.

The program began with messages from national, regional and division educational leaders: DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones; Regional Director Wilfredo E. Cabral Schools Divison Superintendent Rosemarie D. Torres; Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Galileo L. Go; Parent Supervisor Mariano V. Valles; and School Head Lerma V. Peña. Representing the stakeholders, LGU leaders Cong. Alex “AA” Advincula and City Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi also shared their motivating messages to completers.

The completion ceremony recognized the Academic Excellence Awardees who successfully achieved a weighted average of 90 and above.

Focal element of the program was presentation of completers, together with their class advisers. Over 2,000 Emilians from 38 sections completed Junior High School in year 2020.

Initially announced on its Facebook Page in July , GEANHS completers have shown excitement and anticipation for the online event.

“Our situation now is different. Our set up, [like this webinar], is also different from what we were used to.” Mr. June Bence L. Adelan, the Information Technology Officer of the Schools Division Office of Imus City, encouraged the teachers of Gen. We need to prepare for the new normal. A big change has arrived, and we need to adapt." Mr. Adelan quoted the Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop when he said, “We didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost…” He explained that others in the same indutry had outpaced the company. The ITO officer explained that just like the company, teachers should be able to adapt to change before its too late.
