1.1.1Introduction

The 4P's program was developed to help the students who need more practice in reading. Although there was a previous reading program, the Filipino Department intended to further expand this program to encourage students to value and appreciate reading. This project also joined the program of the Department of Education regarding the development of students' reading skills just like the latest launch program called Brigada Pagbasa.

Every time the enrollment period begins, the implementation of the 4P's Program is started. The Grade 7 students who enrolled in school, go through the reading process individually. From this process, the teachers will be able to identify what level the students' reading skills are as well as determine which of the students have difficulty reading or do not know how to read.

Associated with the 4P's Program are various projects adapted to answer the needs of the students. The first project is the PITAK (Pagbasa’y Iangat Tungo sa Angkop na Kawilihan) project. The main objective of this program is to recognize the students who struggles in reading. In the first week of class, the student’s ability to recognize words and comprehend what they have read is assessed. This program helps to improve and raise the level of students in reading. In order to do so, the teachers conducted research seeking different strategies to improve reading instruction.

At the same time, the MP3 Project (Mamamayan Pakilusin Pagbasa’y Paunlarin) was also developed. In this project, the cooperation of parents, community citizens, and student organizations are requested to perform "Peer Coaching/Mentoring".

Another project is called the KABESA Project (Kaalaman Bitibitin Eskwela Arugain) in which alongside in this program are the students who have the ability to accompany and coach their fellow students who needed help to develop their reading skills.

Following this, is the BASA project (Bawat Akda ay Suriin at Alamin). This program is implemented quarterly for the development of students' skills in the analyzing different literary works. Every teacher serves as a guide for the students in the evaluation of the literary piece so that they can perform well.

Another project included under the 4P's program is the GPPS (Gadget Pang-agapay Pagbasa’y Sosolusyunan) project that was added during the pandemic as the students underwent distance learning. This project aims to solve the reading problem through different gadgets that students enjoy using.

The BiyaHero Project was then developed to make the continuous enrichment of the students’ knowledge more accessible to everyone. The focus of this project is the implementation of reading at home for students who have difficulty in reading and comprehension.

Together, hand in hand in helping students is the main goal of the 4P's program and projects under it. Everything can be made possible with the sincere desire to cultivate the wisdom of the students. Together with the Principal, Head Teachers, and teachers of GEANHS, the program aims to produce Junior High school graduates who are ready to enter a new level with confidence as their reading and comprehension skills have been honed and flourished.
