GEANHS SHARES FIGHT AGAINTS STUNTING THROUGH NUTRITION WEBINAR

In celebration of World Nutrition Month, GEANHS launches its first Nutrition Webinar via its YouTube Channel on August 3, 2020. With the theme, “Batang Pinoy, SANA TALL.. Iwas Stunting. SAMA All! Iwas ALL din sa COVID 19!”, the webinar focused on stunting, a health phenomenon among Filipino children today.

The webinar began with a prayer lead by Mrs. Ma. Alodia M. Quinto, Gulayan sa Paaralan Coordinator, and an Opening Remarks by Mrs. Lerma V. Peña, School Head.

Mrs. Rona R. Alberto, School Feeding Coordinator, facilitated the learning session on stunting, focusing on its causes, effects to the lives of children, and how to avoid it.

Mrs. Alberto quoted Dr. Azuzena M. Dayanghirang, Executive Director of National Nutrition Council, on her statement that, “The Philippines is one of the ten countries with the greatest number of stunted children. Over 4 million Filipino children are stunted.”

The webinar aimed to promote awareness and mobilize action to address it and call for a collective vision of having taller Filipino children by preventing stunting through the participation of different stakeholders.

Nutrition Month is celebrated every month of July by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 491 section 7 or the Nutrition Act of The Philippines, which aims to increase awareness on the importance of proper nutrition.
